The 1911 Census recorded 238 people named Kilgannon in Ireland; roughly one in every 18,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 122 men and 114 women. (A small number, 2, had no sex recorded.)

Of the Kilgannons whose literacy was recorded, 68.3% could both read and write, 7.4% could read but not write, and 24.3% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 69.4% reading and writing against 67.2% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Thomas (19), James, Michael, Patrick and John; the same five names that topped the list nationally. For women it was Bridget (15), followed by Mary, Kate, Sarah and Catherine.

The most common occupation among Kilgannons was farmer, 24.4% of them (58 people). Next came scholar / student (19.7%), farm labourer (8%), general labourer (2.1%) and domestic servant (0.8%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 32.4% of all Kilgannons, followed by general labourers, domestic service and textiles & clothing.
