Mayo was Lavin country: 36.5% of them (484 people) lived there in 1911. Next came Roscommon (461), Sligo (228), Leitrim (65) and Dublin (23).

The most common male names were Thomas (94), John, Patrick, James and Michael; the same five names that topped the list nationally. For women it was Mary (109), followed by Bridget, Anne, Ellen and Catherine.

Next came scholar / student (22.9%), farm labourer (3.8%), general labourer (3.7%) and no occupation / dependent (1.1%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 32.8% of all Lavins, followed by general labourers, domestic service and retail & commerce.
