Of the Lougheads whose literacy was recorded, 92.4% could both read and write, 2.2% could read but not write, and 5.4% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 94.9% reading and writing against 90.6% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 20% of all Lougheads, followed by retail & commerce, domestic service and manufacturing & trades.
What religion is Loughead?
Most Lougheads, 61.1%, were Presbyterian. The remainder were mostly Anglican (21.1%), Roman Catholic (10.5%) and Methodist (5.3%).
