Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 14.9% of all Loweys, followed by textiles & clothing, general labourers and professional.

The largest religious group among Loweys was Anglican, at 37.2%. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (31.9%) and Roman Catholic (30.9%).
