Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 13.1% of all Luttons, followed by textiles & clothing, metal & engineering and domestic service.

The largest religious group among Luttons was Anglican, at 49.1%. The remainder were mostly Methodist (23.9%), Presbyterian (18.3%), Non-Conformist (3.5%) and Congregationalist (2.1%).
