Dublin had the largest share of Lynams, 22.2% (164 people). Next came Westmeath (132), Offaly (125), Meath (111) and Kildare (50).

Lynam average age in 1911
The average Lynam in 1911 was 28.2 years old, 27.9 for men and 28.5 for women; a touch younger than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Lynam literacy in 1911
Of the Lynams whose literacy was recorded, 82.5% could both read and write, 2.8% could read but not write, and 14.7% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 84.7% reading and writing against 80% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were James (51), John, Patrick, Thomas and Michael; the same five names that topped the list nationally. For women it was Mary (54), followed by Bridget, Margaret, Anne and Ellen.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (14.5%), farm labourer (4.5%), general labourer (3.1%) and domestic servant (2%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 19.6% of all Lynams, followed by domestic service, general labourers and transport.
