Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 17.8% of all McBrides, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and general labourers.

Most McBrides, 56.4%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (25.9%), Anglican (13.3%), Methodist (1.4%) and Plymouth Brethren (0.5%).
