The McCrorys were heavily concentrated in Tyrone, home to 54.1% of them (725 people). Next came Antrim (314), Armagh (110), Down (99) and Donegal (37).

Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 25.1% of all McCrorys, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and general labourers.

McCrorys were predominantly Roman Catholic (78.3%). The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (10.7%), Anglican (9.3%), Methodist (0.8%) and Plymouth Brethren (0.7%).
