Women came out slightly ahead, 85.7% reading and writing against 81.8% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were general labourer (12.6%), farmer (9.2%), textile worker (9.2%) and metal worker / engineer (6.9%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 12.6% of all McFeeterses, followed by general labourers, textiles & clothing and metal & engineering.

What religion is McFeeters?

Most McFeeterses, 67.8%, were Anglican. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (21.8%), Roman Catholic (8%) and Methodist (2.3%).
