Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (16.8%), farm labourer (6%), general labourer (4.5%) and domestic servant (2.4%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 23.5% of all McGlynns, followed by general labourers, domestic service and textiles & clothing.

McGlynns were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 98.8% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (0.4%) and Presbyterian (0.4%).
