Grouped by sector, building & construction accounted for 8.9% of all McKintoshes, followed by professional, domestic service and textiles & clothing.

The largest religious group among McKintoshes was Presbyterian, at 44.3%. The remainder were mostly Anglican (38%), Methodist (6.3%), Congregationalist (3.8%) and Roman Catholic (3.8%).
