Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farm labourer (14.1%), farmer (14.1%), domestic servant (11.8%) and general labourer (4.7%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 28.2% of all McQuilkins, followed by domestic service, general labourers and manufacturing & trades.
What religion is McQuilkin?
The largest religious group among McQuilkins was Presbyterian, at 45.9%. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (44.7%), Anglican (4.7%), Methodist (3.5%) and Quaker (1.2%).
