Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 12.5% of all Monsons, followed by retail & commerce, clerical & administration and public service & defence.

Monsons were predominantly Anglican (76.2%). The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (21.2%) and Methodist (2.5%).
