Women came out slightly ahead, 84.9% reading and writing against 81.1% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Patrick (13), John, Michael, Owen and James. For women it was Mary (14), followed by Bridget, Margaret, Mary Anne and Katie.

The most common entry on a Morahan's census form was "Scholar"; 26.4% (60) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (15.4%), farm labourer (3.1%), shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (2.6%) and carter / driver / groom (1.8%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 18.5% of all Morahans, followed by retail & commerce, professional and transport.

Morahans were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 99.1% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (0.4%).
