Of the Munroes whose literacy was recorded, 82.8% could both read and write, 2.3% could read but not write, and 14.9% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 87.5% reading and writing against 78.3% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (6), Patrick, Thomas, James and Owen. For women it was Ellen (5), followed by Mary, Margaret, Mary Anne and Annie.

The most common entry on a Munroe's census form was "Scholar"; 16.7% (15) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farm labourer (7.8%), farmer (7.8%), general labourer (6.7%) and herd / dairy worker (4.4%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 20% of all Munroes, followed by general labourers, domestic service and retail & commerce.

Munroes were predominantly Roman Catholic (85.6%). The remainder were mostly Anglican (5.6%), Methodist (4.4%), Baptist (2.2%) and Presbyterian (1.1%).
