Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were James (6), Isaac, William James, Henry and Arthur. For women it was Annie (4), followed by Mary, Agnes, Elizabeth and Lizzie.

The most common entry on an OVerend's census form was "Scholar"; 15.4% (12) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (6.4%), soldier / military (6.4%), general labourer (3.8%) and other maker / factory worker (3.8%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 9% of all OVerends, followed by public service & defence, textiles & clothing and professional.
What religion is OVerend?
OVerends were predominantly Anglican (74.4%). The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (16.7%) and Methodist (9%).
