Grouped by sector, textiles & clothing accounted for 11.7% of all Pedens, followed by agriculture, metal & engineering and retail & commerce.

Pedens were predominantly Presbyterian (72.3%). The remainder were mostly Anglican (18.4%), Methodist (6.2%), Congregationalist (0.8%) and Roman Catholic (0.8%).
