Peoples in 1911 Ireland
The 1911 Census recorded 400 people named Peoples in Ireland; roughly one in every 11,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 216 men and 184 women.
Counties with Peoples in Ireland
The Peopleses were heavily concentrated in Donegal, home to 68% of them (272 people). Next came Antrim (63), Derry (52), Tyrone (8) and Down (3).

Peoples average age in 1911
The average Peoples in 1911 was 29.9 years old, 29.8 for men and 30.1 for women; almost exactly in line with the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Peoples literacy in 1911
Of the Peopleses whose literacy was recorded, 74.7% could both read and write, 5.3% could read but not write, and 20% could do neither. The figures were much the same for men and women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.
Peoples common first names
The most common male names were John (30), William, James, Samuel and Thomas. For women it was Mary (18), followed by Margaret, Maggie, Ellen and Sarah.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (16%), farm labourer (5.5%), general labourer (3%) and shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (2.2%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 22.2% of all Peopleses, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and general labourers.

The largest religious group among Peopleses was Roman Catholic, at 36.8%. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (32.2%), Anglican (27.8%), Methodist (3%) and Baptist (0.2%).
