Among the rest, the most common occupations were shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (6.3%), farmer (5.8%), fisherman (5.8%) and farm labourer (5.3%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 11.1% of all Rickards, followed by retail & commerce, domestic service and fishing.

Rickards were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 91.3% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (7.2%) and Baptist (1.4%).
