The 1911 Census recorded 95 people named Stothers in Ireland; roughly one in every 46,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 52 men and 43 women.

Men came out slightly ahead, 66% reading and writing against 61.9% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Joseph (5), John, William, James and Robert. For women it was Elizabeth (4), followed by Sarah, Anne, Eliza Jane and Margaret.
Stothers occupations in 1911
The most common entry on a Stothers's census form was "Scholar"; 20% (19) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (18.9%), farm labourer (6.3%), domestic servant (5.3%) and textile worker (5.3%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 25.3% of all Stotherses, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and general labourers.
What religion is Stothers?
Most Stotherses, 64.2%, were Anglican. The remainder were mostly Methodist (18.9%), Presbyterian (10.5%), Roman Catholic (4.2%) and Quaker (2.1%).
