The Sweets were heavily concentrated in Antrim, home to 51.4% of them (36 people). Next came Down (11), Cork (10), Dublin (7) and Wicklow (3).

The average Sweet in 1911 was 27.5 years old, 24.9 for men and 29.9 for women; a touch younger than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Sweet literacy in 1911
Of the Sweets whose literacy was recorded, 78.9% could both read and write, 0% could read but not write, and 21.1% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 82.1% reading and writing against 75.9% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (7), Alexander, George, George Campbell and Henry. For women it was Mary (6), followed by Annie, Rebecca, Lilian and Ada Amalia.

The most common entry on a Sweet's census form was "Scholar"; 21.4% (15) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were clerk / office worker (2.9%), metal worker / engineer (2.9%), no occupation / dependent (2.9%) and other maker / factory worker (2.9%). Grouped by sector, professional accounted for 4.3% of all Sweets, followed by textiles & clothing, building & construction and clerical & administration.
What religion is Sweet?
Sweets were predominantly Anglican (75.7%). The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (10%), Roman Catholic (8.6%) and Christian Science (4.3%).
