Grouped by sector, textiles & clothing accounted for 17.4% of all Tottons, followed by agriculture, general labourers and metal & engineering.

The largest religious group among Tottons was Anglican, at 43.4%. The remainder were mostly Methodist (19.6%), Roman Catholic (18.3%), Presbyterian (9.1%) and Congregationalist (5%).
