The 1911 Census recorded 66 people named Trinder in Ireland; roughly one in every 67,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 32 men and 34 women.

The Trinders were heavily concentrated in Cork, home to 77.3% of them (51 people). Next came Dublin (9), Donegal (3) and Kildare (3).

That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. Men came out slightly ahead, 90.3% reading and writing against 87.9% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Thomas (6), James, John, Samuel and William. For women it was Annie (5), followed by Anne, Elizabeth, Diana and Edith Jane.

The most common occupation among Trinders was farmer, 28.8% of them (19 people). Next came scholar / student (16.7%), shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (6.1%), baker / confectioner (1.5%) and carpenter / joiner (1.5%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 28.8% of all Trinders, followed by retail & commerce, public service & defence and building & construction.
What religion is Trinder?
Trinders were overwhelmingly Anglican, 95.5% of them. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (4.5%).
