Men came out slightly ahead, 86.8% reading and writing against 81.4% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common entry on a Twaddle's census form was "Scholar"; 25.3% (21) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (12%), blacksmith / smith (4.8%), textile worker (4.8%) and domestic servant (3.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 14.5% of all Twaddles, followed by domestic service, textiles & clothing and metal & engineering.
What religion is Twaddle?
Twaddles were predominantly Anglican (73.5%). The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (26.5%).
