Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common entry on a Wisely's census form was "Scholar"; 23.5% (20) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (5.9%), domestic servant (4.7%), general labourer (4.7%) and farm labourer (3.5%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 11.8% of all Wiselys, followed by domestic service, general labourers and transport.
What religion is Wisely?
Wiselys were predominantly Roman Catholic (80%). The remainder were mostly Anglican (11.8%) and Presbyterian (8.2%).
