It appears on no Ordnance Survey map, neither the first edition of 1840 nor the revised edition of 1904, yet it sits in plain sight on a gently south-east-facing slope, its outline still legible across the grass.

What makes the site traceable at all is a single estate map drawn in 1815 by the surveyor John Longfield for John Bagwell, a document now held in the National Library of Ireland. That map is the only formal record to have captured the enclosure, and it predates the entire OS mapping programme for the region. The monument itself has been levelled over time, likely through agricultural use, but its form persists. The enclosure measures roughly 53 metres north to south and 48 metres east to west, making it a substantial feature by any measure. In the south-east and south-west quadrants, a scarp, essentially a pronounced change in ground level, survives to a height of just under a metre, dropping away over a gradual slope about eight metres wide. To the north-east and north-west, a field bank and hedgerow now mark the line where the original boundary once ran. A slight depression along the base of the scarp in the southern section, about 3.6 metres wide, may represent the remains of an external fosse, the ditch that would originally have enclosed the whole structure. Enclosures of this type are common across Ireland and were typically associated with early medieval settlement, functioning as enclosed farmsteads or raths, though no excavation has confirmed that interpretation here.

The enclosure sits in ordinary working farmland, and its survival as a visible earthwork, despite being ploughed or grazed flat at some point, is largely down to the slight but persistent unevenness of the ground itself. The scarp and possible fosse are most legible in low-angle light, when shadows pick out the changes in level that would otherwise read as nothing more than the ordinary roll of a field.
