The building is detached and two storeys high, a solid, unfussy piece of railway architecture, and it stands with two supporting structures still close at hand, a single-storey outbuilding and a former goods shed, both of which have simply changed jobs rather than disappeared.

The station dates from around 1885, placing it firmly within the great push of branch line and secondary railway construction that reached into so many small Irish towns in the late nineteenth century. Stations of this size and date were rarely architectural showpieces; they were built to a practical formula, sturdy enough to last, plain enough to be replicated across a network, and equipped with the ancillary buildings a working line required. Here that meant an outbuilding, now doing service as a garage, and a goods shed for handling freight, the kind of structure that once saw churns, sacks, and crates loaded and unloaded rather than passengers. That goods shed is now disused, an unadorned survivor of a function that vanished long before the domestic conversion of the main building.

What makes the group worth pausing over is not any single dramatic feature but the layering of use it represents: a station house adapted for living, a goods shed left empty, and an outbuilding repurposed as a garage, all still standing together on what would once have been the station's working footprint. It is a modest but legible fragment of the branch line era, the sort of place that rewards a second look rather than a first glance, its former identity readable in the proportions of the buildings even though the trains themselves are long gone.
