They are easy to miss: no signpost, no interpretation board, just a series of subcircular depressions and low, turf-covered wall remnants arranged within what appears to have been a broader field system. The sites are the kind of thing that rewards a slow eye rather than a quick glance.

Each hut site takes the form of a roughly circular or oval area defined by the collapsed remains of a stone wall, the classic shape of early Irish vernacular settlement. The individual structure recorded here measures approximately eleven metres east to west and nearly nine metres north to south on its outer dimensions, with an interior space of around eight by six and a half metres, enclosed by a wall roughly a metre wide. These proportions suggest a modest but substantial dwelling, likely associated with seasonal or permanent habitation during the early medieval period, though precise dating is difficult without excavation. The five sites cluster together within a surviving field system, which implies this was once an organised agricultural landscape rather than an isolated building. The ridge itself, with its rock outcrop and severe drop to the north, would have offered both a degree of natural defence and an expansive view down over Lough Melvin below.
