Architectural fragment, Ballingarry, Co. Galway

In the townland of Ballingarry in County Galway, an architectural fragment survives, recorded and catalogued but largely unexplained in any publicly available form.

The designation itself raises questions. An architectural fragment could be almost anything: a carved stone pulled from a collapsed doorway, a section of decorative moulding from a church or tower house, or a piece of dressed masonry that once belonged to a structure now entirely vanished. That the fragment merits its own record suggests it was considered significant enough to note, even if the detail surrounding it remains out of reach for now.
