The site appears not as upstanding earthworks but as a cropmark, the kind of ghost that only becomes visible in aerial or satellite imagery when differential soil moisture causes crops directly above buried features to ripen at a slightly different rate, tracing the outline of ditches dug perhaps a thousand or more years ago. What the imagery reveals is a circular enclosure roughly 30 metres across internally, with an outer diameter of around 60 metres, and a second concentric fosse, or ditch, running approximately 14 metres outside the inner one.

The enclosure was identified and reported by Simon Dowling and Edward O'Riordan, who spotted it on Google Earth imagery captured on 14 July 2018. Concentric enclosures of this kind, with two parallel ditches describing the same rough circle, are known from across Ireland and are generally associated with the early medieval period, though their precise function varies. Some are interpreted as high-status ringforts or enclosed settlements, the double ditch offering additional security or marking elevated social standing; others may have had ceremonial or funerary associations. A north-south field boundary once skirted the eastern edge of the outer enclosure, though that boundary has since been levelled, leaving the enclosed area entirely under tillage with no surface trace remaining.
