The site is associated with a church known as White Church, though no church structure now remains visible within the enclosure itself. The graveyard is roughly sub-square in plan, measuring around 34 metres internally, with one notable irregularity: the north-east corner is rounded rather than angular, a detail that often hints at earlier, pre-Norman use of a site, where circular or curved enclosures were the norm.

By 1839, when the Ordnance Survey Letters recorded observations across Irish parishes, the place was noted simply as a small graveyard still in use. That document, later published in O'Flanagan's compilation of the letters, gives no sense that anything unusual was attached to the site by that point, only that it continued to serve its community quietly. When the graveyard was visited again in 1994, following a clean-up of the grounds, every legible headstone turned out to date from the nineteenth century onwards. That absence is worth pausing over. The connection to White Church reaches back to the medieval period, yet the physical record of the dead begins no earlier than the 1800s. Whether earlier markers were lost, removed, or simply never made of durable stone is unknown, but the effect is a place whose visible history is considerably shorter than its actual one.
