On the south-eastern slopes of the Beennacouma and Mount Eagle ridge in Gleann Fán, a pair of small stone structures sit in rough mountain pasture, their walls still standing to about a metre high despite having been built without mortar.

Known as Clochán Dréimide, the two conjoined huts are of drystone construction, a technique in which carefully selected and stacked stones are made to support one another through friction and weight alone rather than any binding material. What makes the arrangement particularly interesting is the communicating passage connecting the two chambers, with a separate entrance cut into the exterior at the south-east side of the southern structure. The internal diameters are modest, one measuring 2.3 metres across and the other roughly 2.5 by 1.1 metres, suggesting these were functional shelters rather than domestic dwellings in any permanent sense.

A little downhill from the two conjoined huts lie the partial remains of a D-shaped drystone chamber, and further ruined structures are clustered against an old field wall some ten metres to the west. Taken together, these fragments suggest a small complex of activity rather than a single isolated building, though exactly what that activity was, and when it took place, is not recorded. The site was catalogued by J. Cuppage as part of the 1986 Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey, a comprehensive documentation of the Corca Dhuibhne region, which covers one of the most densely layered archaeological landscapes in Ireland. The Dingle Peninsula is home to an extraordinary concentration of early ecclesiastical sites, promontory forts, and beehive huts, so the clocháin at Gleann Fán sit within a broader tradition of drystone building that stretches back well into the early medieval period, though precise dating for individual structures of this kind is rarely straightforward.
