This particular site at Málainn Bhig forms part of a dense concentration of stone structures scattered across the poorly drained, rush-covered pasture. The location offers commanding views across the landscape, with the Atlantic visible to the south and the dramatic cliffs of Slieve League rising to the west, whilst a mountain stream babbles through the valley below.

The settlement consists of at least twenty-one identified hut sites, with this specific structure being the second in a line of five conjoined rectangular huts oriented northeast to southwest. The rectangular dwelling measures approximately 3 metres by 2.1 metres internally, with drystone walls nearly a metre thick that still stand about 40 centimetres high. Built from local stone and now covered in heather, the walls survive as two to four courses of stonework, though no clear entrance is visible today. Just 10 metres to the southwest sits a circular hut site connected to this chain of structures, whilst another rectangular hut lies 10 metres to the south.

These clustered ruins represent what was likely a small farming community that made use of the mountain pastures, possibly as seasonal dwellings for those tending livestock on the higher ground. The substantial stone walls and careful positioning of the huts, sheltered yet with good visibility across the valley, speak to the practical knowledge of those who built them. Today, the heather-covered remains blend almost seamlessly into the rough mountain landscape, a quiet testament to the generations who once called these remote slopes home.
