The monument, known locally as Keelmalomvorny, is an orthostatic structure, meaning it is defined by stones set deliberately on edge rather than stacked or built up, and it measures roughly 4.4 metres east to west and 3.4 metres north to south. Some slabs stand up to 60 centimetres high; others are so thoroughly swallowed by sod that only their tops betray them. A low cliff borders it to the north, a stream runs along its southern edge, and the whole thing occupies a level patch of ground that feels quietly purposeful, even if its original purpose remains uncertain.

The Ordnance Survey Name Books, compiled in the nineteenth century as part of Ireland's first systematic mapping effort, recorded this as the burial place of Maelmoorney, a figure whose name is preserved in the place name Keelmalomvorny and echoed in the nearby church and graveyard of Killemlagh, roughly 90 metres to the north. That church site carries its own association with an early saint, and the clustering of these named places suggests a landscape that was, at some point, understood as belonging to particular people and particular memories. Whether the megalithic structure genuinely marks a burial, or whether the folk identification of Maelmoorney accumulated around an already-ancient and unexplained monument, is not clear. What the stones themselves show is careful arrangement: six slabs define each of the north and south sides, a block-like slab sits slightly askew against the south interior face, and a large boulder anchors the south-west angle. The west end is formed by two slabs set a metre apart; the east end is less resolved, with its northern slab almost entirely hidden beneath the turf. A further spread of stones, including at least four whose tops just clear the sod, lies along the monument's southern exterior.
