What remained was a curved arc of field fencing, running roughly south-southwest to north-northeast, stretching about forty metres, and a slight hollow on the outer western and northern edges where the bank had once stood. These are the ghost traces of what was once a rath, the most common form of early medieval enclosed settlement in Ireland, typically a roughly circular area defined by one or more earthen banks and ditches, used as a farmstead by a family of some social standing.

The ringfort had been visible on Ordnance Survey six-inch maps from 1842 onwards, and was recorded again on the 1904 and 1938 editions, its outline persisting across nearly a century of mapping. At some point before it was cleared, the curving bank had been quietly absorbed into the local field boundary system, its arc repurposed as a convenient fence line. This kind of gradual domestication was common across Ireland, where farmers made practical use of existing earthworks before eventually removing them. The landowner recalled the curved fence to the west and north, and the hollow that marked where the outer edge of the bank had been. There is also a possible souterrain in the interior, a souterrain being an underground stone-lined passage associated with early medieval settlement, sometimes used for storage or refuge. Whether that feature survives the levelling is unclear.

There is little on the ground now to draw the eye. The curved field boundary and the slight depression in the land are the main things to look for, though both are easily missed without knowing what shaped them.
