Men came out slightly ahead, 67.9% reading and writing against 65.2% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were James (12), Patrick, Michael, John and Martin. For women it was Mary (16), followed by Anne, Annie, Bridget and Ellen.

The most common entry on a Fadden's census form was "Scholar"; 27.4% (40) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (17.8%), metal worker / engineer (1.4%), post office worker (1.4%) and publican / hotel worker (1.4%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 18.5% of all Faddens, followed by public service & defence, metal & engineering and retail & commerce.
