Roughly thirty metres along its longer axis and fifteen metres across, it sits in the north-east quadrant of what may once have been an ecclesiastical enclosure, the kind of roughly circular or oval boundary that often surrounded an early Irish church and its associated structures. The burial ground has not been formally accessed by surveyors, and by 1973, when an aerial photograph captured it from above, the site was already thick with overgrowth.

What makes the place particularly interesting is the way the historical record documents its gradual erasure. The 1846 Ordnance Survey six-inch map shows the full rectangular plot, with a north-to-south field boundary cutting across its eastern half. By the time the revised OS map was produced between 1895 and 1897, that eastern portion had effectively ceased to be recorded; only the land to the west of the field boundary appears. Whether the eastern section was absorbed into agricultural use, or simply became indistinguishable from the surrounding field system, the map evidence does not say. What it does suggest is that a working boundary, the kind routinely drawn across older ground as land was divided and managed, gradually split the burial ground in two, with one half slipping out of the official picture entirely. The possible ecclesiastical enclosure within which it sits has not been formally confirmed, but its presence as a category implies earlier religious activity on the site, perhaps a small church or monastic foundation now otherwise undetectable at ground level.
